You may or may not have noticed that this website has been offline for a while (1 or 2 months, I’m not sure).
I self host this site at my parents house on a Raspberry Pi 1 A+. A few months ago the micros SD card that the Pi uses for storage experienced some form of corruption. It refused to read or write to the card.
The corruption was created when I was backing up some files to it. I’m considering ways to decrease the size of backups that I make to the Pi to minimise the chance of this happening again.
Thing were stopping working so I tried to reboot it. It turned off but didn’t turn back on and I was left with no way of fixing the situation without physically having the SD card.
I wanted to take the SD card out and have a look at it on my computer. Unfortunately I was in Cardiff, at university, so nothing could be done until I came home.
I came home late Friday and so yesterday morning I took out the SD card and ran fsck on it with my laptop. It fixed everything, I put the SD card back in the Pi and everything just worked again.
