I got into Cardiff University to study Physics! (I have known this for a while, I just haven’t posted about it.)
I’m starting in just a week and I’m very excited (and a little scared). I’m looking forward to meeting new people/friends and I do know a couple of people who are also going to Cardiff, which should make it easier.
Studying physics at a university level is also very exciting - I didn’t always know that I wanted to study physics at uni but it has been a subject that I have been interested in for a long time. Incidentally I read an very good physics book this summer - The Quantum Universe by Brian Cox and Jeff Forshaw. I found its explanation of quantum mechanics intuitive, although the whole clocks thing was a little silly.
Something else that I have long found interesting are castles, so I am happy that I’m going to live in a city that has one, as well as others nearby, such as Caerphilly Castle which seems easy to get to on the train (I also like trains).
Speaking of trains, getting to Cardiff is actually really easy from where I live currently, only a few hours on the train and I don’t need to go through London to get there.
I’ve also applied for a mytravelpass which reduces the cost of a bus in Wales from £3 to £1 for 16-25 year old people (for free!). I didn’t realise this was a thing until this week and it takes up to 6 weeks to arrive so I’ve sent it to the halls that I will be living in.
I was interested to discover that Cardiff Uni publishes some student blogs which are fun to read.
